We are very
fortunate to live in the Cognac region where our home,the "Château
de la Raillerie" overlooks our vineyards. "MockCastel"
is the name we chose for our kennel.
When in 1976 we beganto breed that great aristocrat, the Airedale
Terrier -a sociable, intelligent, noble and courageaous dog, "La
Raillerie" presented itself as the ideal location.
Shortly afterwards, we fell head over heels for the Bull Terrier, such an unusual and lovable dog, and decided to breed both the Airedale and Bull side by side. When in the 1990's our bull terriers died from old age we decided not to replace them for sentimental reasons and so we turned our attentions to the little "red devil", with its flamboyant red coat and fire in its eye:the Irish Terrier.
It goes without saying that dogs are an integral part of our lives and to our immense joy we are proud the proud breeders of some 36 French and International Champions -including 8 bull terriers, 3 Irish terriers and 1 border terrier.

My husband became involved at a very early stage and his commitment contributed to the development of our kennel. His unfailing encouragement and support have immensly contributed to me becoming a Confirmation Judge for the Third Group (Terriers):
- CFAt & DT -Club Français de l'Airedale Terrier et des Divers Terriers-
- ATE -l'Association des Terriers d'Ecosse.
As for Roger himself, the current Vice-Président of the CFAT & DT member of the commitee for numerous years, his interest lies mainly in working dogs. He is, in his own right,
- Working Trial Judge for the SCC -Société Centrale Canine
- President of the CUT -Commission d'Utilisation et de Travail- de Saintes-Saintonge (our region)
- member of the Commission
de Broussaillage et de Déterrage of the SCC (Tracking
and rounding up wild boar and Ungulata, foxes and badgers hunting).
The
race and the region...
Our vineyards,
lying together, are situated int the "Petite
Champagne d'Archiac",
2nd Vintage Cognac, and here the brandy is left to age for several
years in oak vats before it becomes that noble spirit of the worldwide renown,
the COGNAC.
